Rebecca Jane Johnson, age 82, of Ellettsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025.
Born on October 1, 1942, in Ellettsville, Rebecca was a lifelong resident of the community she cherished.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Johnson; her daughter, Carla Jane Gilliland; her grandson, Parker Gilliland; and her parents, Jane and Albert Kiser. Despite enduring profound loss, Rebecca remained a steady and loving presence for her family.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Gilliland; her granddaughter, Kattie Killion; her adored great-grandson, Daniel Killion; her sister, Sue Kiser; and her brother, Tom Kiser.
Rebecca dedicated more than 40 years of her life to Monroe County Bank, where she was known for her kindness, reliability, and work ethic. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and being outdoors, where her gentle spirit and warm heart could truly shine.
To know Rebecca was to know true kindness. She was the kindest soul you would ever meet, humble, caring, and always ready to give of herself to others.
Visitation will be held at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Friday, July 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with services beginning at 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Old Dutch Church Cemetery.
Rebecca's legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Parker Gilliland Dollars for Scholars Scholarship in honor of her late grandson Parker. Donations may be made at any Peoples State Bank location.
