Regina LeMay Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 24, 2025.
Regina (Jean) M. LeMay age 99. Passed away peacefully on July 21. She was preceded in death by husbands Larry Gillespie and Liguori LeMay and son Douglas. She is survived by sons Dennis (Sue), Daniel (Anne), and daughter-in-law, Lisa; grandchildren Jacqui (Cameron), Michael (Laiza), Heather (Zach), Andrew, Kaitlyn, Marijean, Brian, Benjamin, and Brandon (Allie); great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Aria, Courtney, Jordan, Rylee, Zoe, Zeppelin, and Santana; two sister in laws and many nieces and nephews (30. And she prayed for them all!), including special nephew, Tom (Karen) Duffy.

Regina was born on Staten Island, NY to Leo and Catherine Walsh. She married Larry Gillespie in 1951, only to suffer his loss months later in the Korean war. Then she married Liguori (Lee) LeMay in 1955. Lee served in the Air-Force and they made homes in Texas, the Philippines, and Georgia as they welcomed 3 sons Dennis, Daniel, and Douglas. After Lee retired in 1964, they settled in Roseville, MN where they were very involved with St. Rose of Lima Church, the Knights of Columbus, bowling, golf and Boy Scouts. They also had a cabin on Big Pine Lake, where they had great times with family and friends. After Lee suddenly passed away in 1978, Regina added more golf and international travel to her hobbies with trips around the U.S. and to Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. Later in life, she spent many winters in Gulf Shores, AL with her friend Harry McKenzie. The McKenzie family also adopted her as Grandma Jean.

Regina especially loved her family, remaining active in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great–grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Always the adventurer, she walked across the lake with styro-foam "shoes", flew in a glider in New Zealand, a powered parachute and jumped out of a perfectly good airplane for her 70th birthday. She jumped at the chance to fly with her son Dennis in a single engine plane when he got his private pilot license. Even towards the end of her life, she was requesting a flight with her grandsons - Brian and Ben- who are pilots. When in California visiting Daniel, she talked a surfer into riding his board.

Her quick smile and heartfelt laugh will be greatly missed. Ever the Irish lassie, she was so happy she got to celebrate her 100th St. Patrick's Day with family.

No flowers please. Memorials to Parkinson's Foundation. Visitation will be at Roseville Memorial Chapel (2245 Hamline Ave N, Roseville MN) 7/30/2025 from 4-7pm and at St. Rose of Lima Church (2048 Hamline Ave N, Roseville MN) from 10-11am, Thursday 7/31/25. Funeral Mass celebration will be Thursday 7/31/25 at 11am, followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery (2101 Lexington Ave. S, Mendota Heights, MN) and lunch at Cedarholm Community Building (2323 Hamline Ave N Roseville, MN).
