Rhonda Sue Lowrey Dehner of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by her three children. Born on July 22, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, Rhonda was loving, kind, and caring, always making people feel special. She was a reflection of quiet strength, compassion, and grace.
Rhonda graduated from Mesquite High School, studied at the University of Texas, and earned her degree from North Texas with a double major in Spanish and English. Her love for language and culture was shaped in part by time she spent living in Spain and Mexico, experiences she treasured for the rest of her life. She spent many years teaching high school Spanish, where she inspired her students with patience and heartfelt dedication. After retiring from the classroom, Rhonda began a second career as a travel advisor coordinating destination weddings, and she loved working with her coworkers. A devoted Christian, Rhonda loved the Lord with all her heart and lived out her faith through kindness, humility, and a heart for others. She was always ready to listen, offer comfort, pray, or simply be present. She embodied the love of Christ in quiet, faithful ways. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She loved her children and delighted in every part of their lives. One of her favorite places to be was on the sidelines, cheering them on at countless sporting events. She was always proud and always encouraging.
Rhonda is survived by her children, Kelly Bedolla (David), Tim Evans (Shannon), and Chris Dehner (Ambar), and by her grandchildren: David, Daniel, Hannah, Jonathan, Tyler, and Easton. Rhonda was the daughter of Thomas Meador Lowrey Jr. and Alice Christine (Dowdy) Lowrey, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother, Gary Don Gipson (Sylvia), and was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Merle Lowrey. She made others feel valued and cherished. Her gentle spirit and steady love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Rhonda, please visit our floral store.
