Richard C. Amos, 85 of Sioux Falls, passed away on Sept. 17 at his home.

Richard was born on April 25, 1939 in Kingsport, TN and received his education in the Oak Ridge, Tennessee School System, Dakota Wesleyan University and the University of Iowa. Richard honorably served for four years (1956-1960) in the United States Air Force.

On August 20, 1961, Richard married the love of his life, Deanna Brewer. Three children were born to this marriage, a daughter, Kristy, and two sons, Patrick and Lance. Richard also has five grandchildren and one great grandchild. All shared the joys of life with him.

Richard was preceded in death his loving wife of 50 years, Deanna; his parents, Arthur and Ruth (McCracken) Amos; and five brothers and two sisters.

Richard was employed in a variety of occupations: aircraft repair and modification, law enforcement, and social work at the Veteran Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls. He was a lifelong veterans advocate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospital in Minneapolis, MN; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN or a charity of your choice
