Richard Starr Boswell, Jr., age 75, of Grapeland passed away July 13, 2025 at his home. Richard was born June 25, 1950 in Birmingham, Alabama to parents, Richard Starr Boswell, Sr. and Nancy Elizabeth Sutherland Boswell. Growing up in Alabama, Richard graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1968. After high school, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and his Masters from the University of West Virginia. He was a member of the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) as well as the Houston Area Blacksmith Association. Richard worked for Stress Engineering Services Inc. in Houston, where he was a Principal at the time of his retirement. He enjoyed playing music, shooting sports, and blacksmithing.
Richard is survived by wife, Lilian Virginia Boswell "Ginger" of Grapeland; daughter, Sara Elizabeth Boswell and husband, Patrick Hurst of Austin; brother, Wiely Boswell and wife, Pamela of Montgomery, AL; niece, Starr Parnell and husband, Steven of Falls Church, VA; nephew, Sutherland Boswell of Montgomery, AL; and two grandnieces; numerous other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Richard Starr Boswell, Sr. and Nancy Elizabeth Boswell.
