Ripley: Richard J. Brey, 82 of Ripley, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the Omega House in Houghton following a lingering illness.
Richard grew up and lived in Ripley for much of his life, being part of his family's ownership of the Copper Bowl Lanes. In 1993 he moved downstate and worked as an apartment complex Maintenance Supervisor in Howell, Michigan until his retirement when he returned to Ripley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Irene (Olive) Brey, his brother, Gary Brey, and sisters Gail and Michele Brey.
He is survived by his brother, Donald Brey of Florida; a daughter, Jill Laux of Hancock; a granddaughter, Allyson Laux of Hancock; grandsons Jamie and Jeffrey Laux of Ripley; and by a nephew, nieces, and cousins.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
