Richard P. Couture, affectionately known as "Frenchy", peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the age of 89, in Chesterfield Twp., Michigan. Born on September 7, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, Richard led a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a love for his family and community.
As a devoted employee of Sears and Roebuck, Richard spent many years selling appliances, making countless connections with customers and colleagues alike. In his younger days, he proudly served as a Naval Reservist, showcasing his unwavering commitment to his country.
Richard was a man of many passions. He found joy in boating and fishing, often sharing these experiences with those he loved. Known for his handy skills, Richard was always quick to lend a helping hand to his neighbors, assisting with various projects around their homes. After his time at Sears, he worked as a ranger at Salt River Golf Course, where he made many cherished memories and friendships.
Family was at the heart of Richard's life. He is survived by his beloved children: Richard (Gail), James (Sandy), Paul (Janet), Patrick (Angie); and his adored grandchildren: Shawna (Anthony) Coscarelli, Andrea (Matt) Steck, Nick, Brandon (Jennifer), Jordan (Emily), Kiley (Chris) Norman, Matthew (Hanna), Jacob, Brielle, Joseph, Aaron (Gabbi), and Evan. Richard also leaves behind nine precious great-grandchildren, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his dear brothers, Albert and Frank, and his sisters, Marge Kerwin and Helen Fahner. Richard was reunited in heaven with his wife, Patricia Ann Couture, and his cherished parents.
Richard's love for life was infectious. He enjoyed sharing cocktails with family and friends, creating a home filled with laughter and warmth. A pillar of strength and support, Richard was a cherished member of a large and loving family.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Tuesday, July 8th, from 3-7 pm at the Wasik Funeral Home, Gendernalik Chapel, located at 35259 23 Mile Rd., New Baltimore, MI. Interment will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in Algonac, Michigan.
