Marcella Nettestad, 96, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, September 19, 2025 at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
Marcella Genevieve Martinson was born April 27, 1929 to Gilbert and Minnie (Skriden) Martinson in Rothsay, MN. She attended Country School District #4 and Rothsay High School, graduating in 1947.
On June 30, 1948 Marcella married Vernon Nettestad at Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay.
She was a school cook for 43 years and did migrant school for 15 years. Marcella was a member of Homemakers, church council, Tintah Ladies Aid, and a member of Foxhome Lutheran Church.
Marcella enjoyed baking, gardening, flowers, crocheting baby blankets for her grandkids, knitting potholders, playing whist, going to the casinos, having coffee with the ladies, going out to eat, and playing bingo.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Vernon; son, Steven; daughter-in-law, Vicki Nettestad; parents, Gilbert and Minnie Martinson; three brothers, Chester, Oscar, and Charles Martinson, and three sisters, Louella Bjorklund, Hazel Kaine, and Clarice Grina.
Marcella is survived by her two children, Tom Nettestad (friend, Patty) of West Fargo and Patty (Mike) Bergquist of Foxhome; daughter-in-law, Sherry Nettestad of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Kari (Tim) Marquardt of Rothsay, Heidi Bergquist (friend, Chris) of Breckenridge, Katie (Derrick) Wolter of Breckenridge, Holly (Travis) Rogahn of Tintah, David (Chloe) Bergquist of Breckenridge, Brian (Jayme) Nettestad of Hickson, Allison (Dan) Krogstad of Perley, Danielle (Travis) Zuelsdorff of Fergus Falls, and Mitchell Nettestad of Fergus Falls; 26 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Foxhome Lutheran Church in Foxhome, MN, with visitation one-hour prior to the service.
Clergy: Reverend Brad Soenksen
Interment: Hamar Lutheran Cemetery, Rothsay, MN
