Richard "Dick" Nestor Hanson
August 3, 1934 – July 20, 2025
With family by his side, Richard "Dick" Nestor Hanson, age 90, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, just shy of his 91st birthday.
Dick was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan, on August 3, 1934, to Nestor and Luella (Davis) Hanson and was raised in Ensign (Rapid River Township, MI). It was at Silverdale, a one room schoolhouse, where a young Hanson boy met a pretty Olson girl and it was love at first sight. In 10th grade, Dick took off to Milwaukee to work alongside his father and brother in the concrete industry. On March 27, 1954, in Gladstone, he married the love of his life, Lenore. They settled in Milwaukee and raised their four children. Summers were spent at their cherished cottage at Twin Springs. On that land, they eventually built a permanent home and lived there after retirement. Later, they moved to Cedar Grove, Wisconsin, to be closer to family.
Dick was known for his relentless work ethic and perfectionism. He was an avid golfer who loved to sing and dance. He enjoyed traveling and spent many snowbirding winters in Florida. He was full of "grandpa jokes" and was the family's jigsaw puzzle master. Dick took pride in his hair and his vehicles, especially his two 1957 Pontiac Star Chiefs. One he bought new and another one he meticulously restored. Dick was most proud of his family and being married for over 71 years to his childhood sweetheart.
Dick Hanson was deeply loved, and his legacy lives on through his beautiful family. We imagine him now at peace sipping a Manhattan, listening to Hank Williams, and smiling.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Lenore, and their children: Danny (Debbie) Hanson of Brookfield, WI; Cindy (Jeff Storniolo) Hanson of Muskego, WI; Connie (Mark) McCormick of Fredonia, WI; and Tina (Bill) Schaut of Grafton, WI. He will be deeply missed by his nine grandchildren: Troy, Tammie, Athena, Andrea, Matthew, Clinton, Austin, Emmett, and Audrey and his step- granddaughter, Nikki. He will also be greatly missed by eight great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: William Hanson of Stonington, Elinore (Steve) Sekulich of Escanaba, and Lori (Ivan) Hardwick of Rapid River, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nestor and Luella.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone, with a funeral service at 12:30 p.m.
Dick will be laid to rest at Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.

I was blessed to know this man. The Father of my dear friends Tina and Cindy. I was often invited to family gatherings. Family is everything to these dear people. I will always remember his smile and him being a jokester. I had a Manhattan or two with him. I had the privilege of their sweet hospitality at their summer home. Great memories. He will be deeply missed.
