Richard E. Jancigar ObituaryRichard E. Jancigar, age 71, of Leroy Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Cleveland on October 15, 1953, Rich was a longtime resident of Mentor before settling in Leroy Township.
Rich was the beloved husband of Rosemarie Jancigar, with whom he shared a beautiful life built on love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. He was the adored father of Kristen Jancigar and Tim (Shannon) Jancigar, and the proud and cherished grandfather of Gabe and Alayna Sekki, and Emma and Allison Jancigar. He is also survived by his loving sister, Audrey Loschiavo, and many nieces whom he deeply adored-Melissa, Melanie, April, Samantha, Molly, Noelle, MaryJoy, Camille, and Elise.
A 1971 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Rich was an avid member of the school's bowling team and remained close with many of his classmates throughout his life. He was also a proud member of the S.N.P.J. Lodge 614 Strugglers. Rich spent much of his career as a dedicated field service technician with Horsburgh & Scott, where he was known for his strong work ethic, technical expertise, and integrity.
Rich had a passion for the outdoors-he found peace in hunting, joy in golfing, and loved traveling to new places. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, rarely missing a game on TV, but his greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren play sports, grow up, and become the amazing individuals they are today. Nothing made him prouder.
Rich's warmth, sense of humor, and kind heart touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have shared in his life.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 17, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center Street, Mentor, OH. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 7:30 PM.

When Richard and I were about 10-11 years old, we were too young to stay at home on New Years Eve by ourselves. Aunt Helen and Uncle Ernie invited us to share New Years Eve with them. So, we went over to their house on Hiller. Richard and I were relegated to the kitchen. The adults ate in the dining room and Richard and I ate in the kitchen. We would play the War card game with 3 decks of cards. It took us hours to finally determine who the winner was. This became a NYE tradition for 3-4 years and in all that time I don't think I ever won.

I wish we could play that game again. I will miss you. Rest in peace until we meet again.

I am especially sad that Rich passed last week. He was a good friend and we worked together at H&S sharing many stories of our field trips. He will be missed by us all.

Edited:

My prayers go out to Rosie and the family. I had the pleasure of working with Rich (and Rosie) at Horsburgh and Scott for many many years. As the administrative assistant for the field service team I worked directly with Rich and the field service 'gang'. The field service team was a small and closely knit group. Rich certainly played an integral role part making this one of the best experiences during my tenure at H&S. To the family who knew him best and loved him most always cherish your memories of him. His passing will leave a void that cannot be filled. Rich will be missed by many.
