Richard Duane "Sergeant" LaFlower, 62, of East Brewton, Alabama passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Jay Baptist Hospital in Santa Rosa County, Florida. Richard was the eldest child of three. He grew up in Westport, Indiana and various parts of Florida. At 15 Richard went to work for his dad building and remodeling. Over the course of his life, he owned several businesses. Everything from small engines to big engines, firearms and windows and doors. He was very talented and creative. He graduated from the Police Academy at age 56 and worked until retirement after 8 years for the Florida Department of Corrections as a Criminal Justice Sergeant, a career he absolutely loved. Richard challenged himself every day. Richard is survived by his wife, Margaux and her 6 children; his 3 sons, Christopher, Patrick and Matthew LaFlower; his mother, Rosalyn LaFlower; his two younger sisters, Robin (Shawn) Bevers and Ronda (David Scarlett) Eder and their families and 2 nieces, Mikayla Eder and Wren Bevers, as well as many friends and colleagues. Richard was a born again Christian and we know he is in the arms of our Lord and Savior, who was there to welcome a good and faithful servant. Richard will live on in love, in all the hearts that knew him and loved him. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.bassgasper.com
