John W. Knight, Sr., 73, of Exeter, died peacefully on October 13, 2025 at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Donna D. (Hampton) Knight. Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late Chester V. Knight and Emeline J. (Peck) Knight.
Not one to slow down in retirement, John was employed as a maintenance worker with Connecting for Children and Families while retired. Prior to retirement, he was employed at American Power Conversion, Kingstown Manor (now Roberts Health Centre), and the North Kingstown School Department. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.
He leaves his loving children, John W. Knight, Jr. & his fiancée Jennifer Wood of Warwick, Chester J. Knight & his partner Genna Arakelian of Greenville, and Samantha R. Gardiner & her husband Danny of Westerly. Cherished grandfather of Danny J. Gardiner, Jr., James V. Gardiner, Lorenzo J. Knight, and Isabella C. Knight. He was the brother of Jean M. Rucker of Jackson, MI and the late Linda M. Shaw, Janet L. Caswell, Nancy A. Cooper, and Paul D. Knight. He also leaves many nieces & nephews.
His graveside service will be held Friday, November 7, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. in Elm Grove Cemetery, Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory will be appreciated. Please make checks payable to Connecting for Children and Families. Donations can be made online at ccfcenter.org, and please indicate in honor of John Knight.
