Richard T. Wasilius, age 78, passed into eternal life on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Hagerstown, Maryland, as the son of the late Joseph and Vivian (née Daugherty) Wasilius. Although he spent the majority of his life in New Jersey, he also resided in South Carolina and Florida.
Richard graduated from Hagerstown High School with the class of 1964. Subsequently, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Bridgewater College located in Bridgewater, Virginia. He served as the vice president of Corporate Information Services at Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, New Jersey, retiring in 2002 after more than 20 years of committed service.
Richard found joy in the company of his family. He took delight in witnessing the development of his children and grandchildren. He cherished outdoor activities, whether cycling or caring for the gardens. Richard had a passion for reading and composing poetry. He also took pleasure in hands-on work, engaging in pottery as an accomplished potter. He had a fondness for fine wines.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Wasilius.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Brenda Carol (née DeMasi), with whom he joined hands in Holy Matrimony on September 1, 1968; three loving children, Richard Wasilius of Neshanic Station, New Jersey, Drisana and her husband Jim McFadden of Bluffton, South Carolina, and Nessa and her husband Joseph Rothstein of Ficulle, Italy; two dear brothers, Kenneth Wasilius and Craig Wasilius; five cherished grandchildren, Devon Wasilius, Gavin Wasilius, Willow Mattis, Mogen Rothstein, and Raven Emrys; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, located at 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887, on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on Monday, June 9, from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. The funeral services will commence with transfer prayers at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Following this, the funeral Mass will take place at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Three Bridges at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Thomas J. Serafin, VF, KCHS officiating. The disposition will be private.
