RICHARD W. WEETS, age 94, of Lakefield, died Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Home in Jackson. He was born May 12, 1931, in Sibley, IA, to Henry and Katherine (Jensen) Weets. He attended country school near Avoca.

Richard married Mabel Rutzen on February 17, 1956, in Worthington. The couple lived in various cities in Iowa & Minnesota before moving to Lakefield in 1976. Richard was a farmer and a truck driver. He owned & operated Richard Weets Trucking before retiring in 1999.

He was a member of the Solid Rock Assembly Church in Worthington. He loved to work. He enjoyed wood working building sheds and spending time with his family.

Richard is survived by his wife, Mabel Weets, Lakefield; five children, Rick Weets, Alpha; Chuck Weets, Alpha; David (Sandy) Weets, Alpha; DiAnn Sigafoos, Ellendale, ND; and Tammy (Jerome) Haskin, Jackson; eight grandchildren, Nick Weets, Jason Weets, Adam (Julia) Weets, Cory (Anja) Weets, Ashley Haskin, Matthew Sigafoos, Michael Sigafoos and Caleb Haskin; two great-grandchildren, Josiah & Osker Weets; and three brothers, Raymond (Joanne) Weets, Des Moines, IA; Roger (Marcia) Weets, Woodstock; and Robert (friend, Gail) Weets, Holland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and seven siblings.

A private family graveside service will take place at a later date.

Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, is assisting the family with arrangements.
