Linda Lou Costello Shelton, 83 of Zionsville, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025.
Linda was born May 22, 1941 and enjoyed a happy and loving childhood in Wichita Falls, TX with her parents, John and Ollie Costello and brother, John "Johnny" Costello, Jr. The family was surrounded by many loving cousins, aunts, and uncles who lived nearby in North Texas, and in Oklahoma and Kansas.
She married the love of her life, Tom, in 1961. After living and working in the Wichita Falls area, they moved to Dallas TX where they spent many happy decades, making friends, working and raising their two children, Kim and Scott. They loved their homes and friends in Garland, Highland Park, Dallas, and Hideaway – especially the yellow house on Asbury Street in University Park and the log cabin in Hideaway.
Linda was a devoted wife - supporting Tom's career in teaching and coaching. She was also successful in several endeavors throughout her own working years. Linda was skilled at selling real estate and buying and selling antiques. With Tom's help, she ran estate sales in Dallas – which they continued to do well into their 70's.
She loved going to bridge club, going to Kim's track meets and Scott's basketball games, and traveling with friends and visiting family in Wichita Falls and Tom's family in Missouri. Linda grew up going to church with her family and she and Tom were longtime members of Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
During the prime years of raising a family and later running an estate sale business, her family described her as the "Energizer Bunny" as she kept going and going. She was proud of her children and grandchildren and she and Tom always provided a safe and loving home for their kids and other family and friends.
The last two years of her life, Linda and Tom relocated to Zionsville to be close to family.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of of 63 years, Thomas G. Shelton; her children, Kim Shelton of Dallas, TX and Scott (Claire) Shelton of Zionsville, IN; her grandchildren, Jacob (Lauren) Shelton, Lexia Shelton, Luke Shelton, and Graham Shelton, all of Zionsville, IN; and sister-in-law, Diana Costello.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
Services will be held Thursday May 29, 2025, 2 pm, at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd, Dallas, TX 75205. Burial to follow on Friday May 30, 2025, 12 pm noon, at Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery,1917 Archer City Hwy, Wichita Falls, TX 76302.
Her love for life and for family and friends will be greatly missed.
