Ricky Cousins Obituary

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Ricky Darryl Cousins was born on November 29, 1969, in Danville, Virginia, to Rhoecus L. and Joan Lea Cousins. He was the fourth of five children. He was educated in Lunenburg County Schools and graduated from Central High School in Victoria, Virginia. Rick attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia, and later transferred to North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina. Rick began his career working at Senator Penn in Greensboro, North Carolina. Later, Rick spent most of his working years employed at Nottoway Correctional Center, from which he retired. Post retirement, Rick worked in the Security Department at Virginia Commonwealth University Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, Virginia. Rick professed his life to Christ at a young age at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Victoria, Virginia. He loved spending time with family and friends. Ricky Darryl Cousins departed this life on Tuesday morning, July 22, 2025, at his home in Victoria, Virginia. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Rhoecus L. and Joan Lea Cousins; sisters, Carla Cousins Waller and Christy Diane Cousins; and brother, Rhoecus Cousins, Jr. Rick leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Dr. Kathy Cousins-Cooper (Dr. Hector Cooper) of Whitsett, North Carolina; aunt, Angeline Mitchell (Mike Mitchell) of Pfafftown, North Carolina; nephews, Richard Alexander Waller IV of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Cameron and Kyle Cooper of Whitsett, North Carolina; and a host of family and friends.
