Milo – Rita Mattson, 94, passed away July 9, 2025, at Northern Light Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born August 4, 1930, in Skowhegan, the daughter of Ernest and Gladys (Whitman) Dawes. She loved brook fishing, doing her word puzzles, and listening to country music.
Rita was predeceased by her husband of 77 years, Adolph B. Mattson. She is survived by her three daughters, Elaine Mattson Breitweiser, Sandra Tomlin and her husband, Dana, and Carol Reed and her husband, Bruce; grandsons, Everett Reed, Todd Reed and his wife, Laura, and Mattson Tomlin and his wife, Sarah; great-grandsons, Joshua Reed and his wife, Jen, and Jacob Reed; and special friends, Laurie Hansen and her son, Philip, Pastor Phil and Becky McGlauflin, Allen Monroe, and Abe Willinski.
Your daughters will miss you here on earth with us, but thank you for all you both did for our family.
A graveside memorial service will be held 11AM Monday, August 4, at the Abbot Village Cemetery, with Pastor Phil McGlauflin officiating. She and Adolph will be laid to rest together side by side and together once again. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
