Rita Rose Mullin, age 84, of Utica, passed away August 16, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born in Detroit on May 4, 1941 to the late William and Violet Downey. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital for over 30 years and retired in 2015. She enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motorhome and loved to go shopping. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and other activities at the Shelby Senior Center. She is survived by her children; Michele (Rick) Whitt, Rosemarie Ramales, and Sean (Jenny) Wheatley, along with her 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings; William (Judy) Downey, Kevin (Monica) Downey, and Kathy (Augie) Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her husband; John Mullin (2014), daughter; Kimberly Crews (2013, son; Harold Wheatley, Jr. (1994) son in-law Bernie Ramales (2022), grandson; Kyle Hester and siblings; Patrica Nickel, Timothy Downey and Daniel Downey. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, located at 4633 Utica Rd., Utica, MI 48317. Visiting will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to mass. Inurnment will be follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Utica. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Young-Gilbert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Algonac.
