Rita C Weiss, 75, of Britt, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
A Memorial Mass for Rita will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 139 3rd Street Southeast, in Britt, with Father Andrew Marr officiating.
Visitation will take place one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Rita C. Weiss, 75, of Britt, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Rita Catherine Weiss was born September 7, 1948, in Britt, Iowa, to Edward John and Rita Mae (Gordon) Weiss. She was the third of six children.
Rita was raised and educated in Britt, and following high school, she worked as a nurse's aide at Good Shepherd in Mason City and at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. She also worked for a time at Winnebago Industries in Forest City.
Rita enjoyed going for walks, when she was able, pestering her brother and loved her faithful cat, DC.
Rita was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt, and seldom missed Mass when she was able to attend.
Rita is survived by her brothers, Joe Weiss, of Clear Lake, Tim Weiss of Kanawha, and Jim (Pam) Weiss, of Kanawha; her nieces, Tammy, Merry, Ellie, Martha, Holly, Nicole, April, Anna, Beth, Jennifer, Jessi; her nephews Ed, Tony, Ed, and John; along with numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, other family members and friends.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Ed Weiss and John Weiss, and her nephew, Justin (Bud) Weiss.
