Robert "Bob" R. Dorn, age 93, of Prudenville, died June 16, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born April 6, 1932, in Okemos, to Henry and Martha (Fredrich) Dorn. The family moved to Lansing, where he graduated from Eastern High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army as a member of the military police in Augsburg, Germany, from 1952 to 1955. He married Marlene Gardner on May 5, 1956, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lansing.
He worked as a general supervisor at General Motors - Oldsmobile in Lansing and retired in 1986. In 1988, he moved to Houghton Lake, and to Prudenville in 1999. He was a founding member of the Shepherd of the Lakes Evangelical Lutheran Church in Roscommon. He was also a member of the White Deer Country Club.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Fred Dorn and Arthur Dorn; and sisters, Eleanor Osborne and Margaret (Peg) Tarpoff.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Marlene; son, Christopher Dorn of Roscommon; daughters, Julie (Jack) Mellen of Clarkston and Marcy McCullough of Fishers, IN; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held June 21 at 11 a.m. at Shepherd of the Lakes Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiated by pastor Adam Seelow. Internment will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel handled the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to Shepherd of the Lakes or the White Deer Country Club.
