Robert James Duvall, “RJ” age 52, passed away on July 4th, 2025, at home in the arms of his loving wife, Jamie.
RJ was the kind of person who made life feel lighter, like a sunny day at the ball field, just by being in the same room with him. Everyone loved him, not because he tried, but because he was just effortlessly warm, funny, and full of life. He was an expert at making you laugh with some ridiculous twist he would add to any song that was playing, seldom ever singing the real words, always slipping in something hilarious just to mess with you and make it so that you never heard that song the same way again.
He had a gift for remembering sports stats from a game in 1985 like it was yesterday. If there was a sports category in trivia, you wanted him on your team.
But behind the jokes and the quick wit was a heart of gold, that loved deeply. His love of cooking was apparent, his food didn’t just fill your belly, it wrapped you like a hug. Every meal was seasoned with love.
He fed people the way he lived, generously.
But his greatest joy was his family, especially his 3 sons, RJ Jr (Susan), Colten (Madeline), and Dylan and 4 grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his parents Robert and Clarice, sisters Colleen (Gary) and Aileen, brothers Jim (Sally) and David.
He may be gone from our sight but never from our hearts. His love, his humor, his presence, they live on in all of us, every day.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Anker Inn in Cassville. A private family memorial service will be held. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville is assisting the family.
