Robert Corley Evans passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be 11am Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Gallman Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services in Crystal Springs is handling arrangements. "Bobby", as he was always known, was born on October 14, 1929, in Dyer, Tennessee, to Jesse H. "Jack" Evans and Wauwice "Duck" Corley Evans, the youngest of three siblings. Mr. Evans attended school in both Dyer, TN and Gallman, MS during his childhood, but always called Gallman his home. He was a lifelong member of Gallman United Methodist church. Mr. Evans served his country proudly as a member of the United States Navy and the United States Air Force, from which he retired. He has been a resident of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, MS since 2012. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Evans of Rhode Island and sister, Lourene Evans Pitts of Gallman. He is survived by his nephew Eldon Ray Pitts (Bonnie) of Crystal Springs, and Steve Pitts of Gallman; and great niece Nicole Pitts Brown, of Gulfport. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Gulfport Memorial Hospital for their excellent care of our uncle during this time of his life and we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Armed Forces Retirement Home for their care of Bobby throughout his residency there. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
