Robert Dale Gardner passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in Blanding, Utah, after enduring many health problems. He was surrounded by loving family members. His final five days of life on this earth were spent with his loving children and grandchildren. We all observed how happy he must have been then, by his loving smiles and interactions with us. Dale was born on July 29, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Rebecca Magdalene Carlsen and Mark Roman Gardner. He grew up in the Gardner home in Murray, Utah. Many fond memories were often expressed by him of the days playing with friends in fields and ponds, swimming and riding around on motorcycles and driving his dad's old car.
After graduating from Murray High School, Dale attended The Ron Bailey School of Broadcasting. He talked a lot about his associations with staff members who worked at the KNAK Radio Station in those days. Dale loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time camping and hiking. Dale enjoyed collecting and sharing a variety of music and movies with others. He was also quite a sports enthusiast. He played basketball and volleyball with friends and family.
He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Indianapolis, Indianna mission. Dale received a bachelor's degree from Utah State University and a master's degree from The University of Utah in social work. While attending Utah State University he met his eternal companion, Teresa Valdez. His career days were spent working in youth corrections, and in caring for the elderly. Later he worked as a paraprofessional with his wife in providing speech therapy in San Juan School District.
Dale and his eternal companion were sealed in the Ogden, Utah temple. Dale leaves behind his loving wife Teresa as well as children and their spouses Ralene and Denis Gurney, Jacob and Lenisha Gardner, Ryan and Marvalyn Gardner, and Jarrod and Jessica Gardner. Dale leaves six grandsons behind: Ethan, Braden, Jason, Zachary, Oliver, and Gabriel. Dale also leaves behind his three granddaughters: Emily, Zoey, and Emery. Dale was preceded in death by his sister Shirley Garner-Gifford, and brothers Ronald, and Kenneth Garner. Dale loved people and easily made friends from all walks of life.
