ROBERT WEST HERRING
ABBEVILLE… Robert West Herring, a resident of Abbeville, Alabama, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025, at a Dothan hospital. He was 75.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Abbeville Memorial Cemetery, with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Herring was born in Ft. Gaines, Georgia to the late William Floyd Herring and Jean Cummings Herring. He was a lifelong resident of Abbeville. He was a 1968 graduate of Abbeville High School and attended the University of Alabama. After moving back to Abbeville, Alabama, he owned and operated his own construction company, Herring Construction. He was a member of the New Prospect Primitive Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Wood Herring; his son, Hamilton “Hambone” Herring; his sisters, Janice Barnes and Jalane Murphy; and a nephew, Samuel “Buster” Coker.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his daughters, Jessye Walker and Tracy Ellis (Travis); his son, Billy Herring; his sister, Ramona Flanagan; and his grandchildren, Holt Johnson and Sawyer Ellis.
