Robert Hull Obituary

Robert F. Hull, a resident of Harrison Township, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, after a difficult illness. He was surrounded by loved ones including Janina Zmurkiewicz, his wife of 31 years, his daughter, Erika Locke, and Lisa Romanelli, a dear friend. Bob was 81 years old. Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 1, 1943, and grew up in Redford Township. He was the oldest child of the late Robert and Marcella Hull. In May, 1965, Bob joined the Army National Guard. He completed medical corpsman training and was with his National Guard unit when, in July of 1967, then Governor George Romney ordered them into Detroit to help end the disturbance which came to be known as the 1967 Detroit Riot or the 12th Street Riot. One member of the Army National Guard was killed and 55 were wounded. Bob was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard on March 9, 1971. Bob worked as an engineer at General Motors in GM Powertrain Product Engineering for 36 years. He retired on April 1, 2004. In his spare time, Bob loved snowmobiling, fishing, and boating, and he built his first offshore boat himself, starting with a blank hull. Bob is survived by Janina Zmurkiewicz, his wife of 31 years, his daughter Erika, and his son David, and many wonderful friends. A brief memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, 18201 Clinton River Road, Clinton Township, Michigan 48038. He will be inurned immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any memorial donations in Bob's memory be made to Forgotten Harvest.
