Robert “Gray” Kearns, 91 of Concord, NC, passed away on July 1st surrounded by those who loved him.
Gray was born on July 9, 1933 in High Point, NC to Elma Kearns and Clifford Kearns. After graduating from High Point High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
Upon returning home, Gray embarked on a distinguished career as a Transporation Director at American Bakeries Company. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, innovative spirit and retired after 31 years of service in 1987.
In 1953, he married the love of his life, Ellen Moore Kearns, and together they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage, building a beautiful home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.
He was a devoted father to Son Jeff Kearns (Darrell) and daughter, Janie Pless and a cherished grandfather to Brooke Abuoelezz (Ahmed) and Dalton Pless and great grandfather to Kamel Abuoelezz. He will be deeply missed by his entire family, including Sister Peggy Lucas (Walt) and sister-in-law Jackie Samuels (Bob), and numerous nieces, nephews and their spouses and children.
Gray will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. His legacy of love and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A private memorial service will be held for the family time and date TBD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County in his memory.
