Obituary of Robert (Bob) J. Kovacs
Robert (Bob) J. Kovacs, 78, of Lower Makefield, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Langhorne, PA.
Born in New Brunswick, NJ he was a longtime resident of East Windsor, NJ before moving to the Yardley area. Bob served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps after being drafted during the Vietnam War.
Bob started working at Paris Auto Parts as a teenager in the early 1960s, and eventually became a co-owner of Paris Automotive Supply in 1985. He took great pride in the business and the relationships he built, continuing as the business's accountant until officially retiring in 2023. His coworkers described him as a positive light, making each day at work enjoyable.
A devoted father, Bob was deeply involved in his children's lives - coaching girls' softball at St. Gregory the Great School in Hamilton Square, NJ, helping build Pinewood Derby cars for Cub Scouts, and even constructing a backyard playhouse for his kids to enjoy. An avid sports fan, he never missed one of his kids' games or races. He had a lifelong love of tinkering in the garage and enjoyed working on little projects for their Seaside Park home - more often seen with his toolbox than on the beach.
To his grandchildren, "Pop Pop" will always be remembered as soft-spoken, funny, and endlessly supportive. He was often seen on the sidelines watching his grandkids in various sports and keeping track of their game stats.
Bob was also a proud and active member of both the Brer Rabbit Sportsman's Club of Somerset, NJ, and the James Paige Marine Detachment of East Brunswick, NJ, where he built lifelong friendships and shared in his love of the outdoors and Marine Corps camaraderie.
Son of the late Victor Kovacs and Anna Oakley, he is survived by his loving wife Antoinette "Dee" Kovacs of 57 years; son Michael and his wife Jennifer; daughter Maria and her husband Michael; and six grandchildren: Cole (20), Grace (19), Noah (18), Lily (15), Maeve (15), and Abby (13).
Funeral services will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation
