Robert William Lee, 64, of Corydon, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, at the Wayne County Hospital, surrounded by friends and family.
Born on February 3, 1961, in Kentucky to William and Diane Lee, Robert attended Valley High School before earning his GED and later completing his CNA training at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). These early steps led him to a lifelong calling of caring for others-something he was truly born to do.
Of all the roles Robert held in life, none meant more to him than being a father. His daughter, Paisley, wasn't just the light of his life-she had him wrapped around her finger from the start. Robert would do anything for her. Their bond was unshakable, and their time together was filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Last summer, they took a trip to Minnesota, where they rented a cabin and fished at a lake Robert had visited as a child. He called it the trip of a lifetime, and it was one of his most cherished memories. Robert also had a deep and lasting love for his stepdaughter, Peyton. He embraced her as his own and was so proud of the young woman she was becoming.
Robert was a gifted and compassionate caregiver who dedicated his life to helping others. For 10 years, he served as a CNA at Corydon Nursing Home, where patients adored him and coworkers respected his dedication. Over the past five years, he continued his mission through Wayne County Public Health and the Home Care Aide Agency. Robert was reliable, kind, and determined-firm yet caring in ensuring his patients' needs were met. They trusted and loved him, finding comfort and joy in his presence.
Robert's personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was warm, witty, and never missed a chance to tease or crack a joke. His laughter filled the room, and even in his final days, his trademark stubbornness and humor never left him. He did things his way-with grit, heart, and a deep love for those around him.
In his free time, Robert took pleasure in the outdoors-fishing and hunting for arrowheads. He also enjoyed growing his cherished coin collection. He found peace in nature and joy in life's simple pleasures.
Robert's family would like to extend a special thank-you to Susan Moore and Jessica Hysell for their unwavering support and care. You went above and beyond, and Robert was truly grateful for both of you.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Paisley; stepdaughter, Peyton Kanney; and other cherished loved ones: Alisha Rouse, Ashley (Jeremy) Miller, Cadi and Cassi Miller, Dick and Cheryl Rouse, his Wayne County Public Health family, extended family, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Diane, and his stepmother, Patricia Gates-Lee.
Robert will be remembered for his big heart, contagious laugh, gentle strength, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing him.
Per Robert's wishes, cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 13 at 5:00 pm at the Walden Park Community Building with Melanie Halferty officiating. A visitation will be held and hour prior starting at 4:00 pm. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Corydon Cemetery. Memorials have been established to Wayne County Public Health Foundation to be used for home health care, and can be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home ATTN: Lee Family 303 E. Jefferson Street Corydon, Iowa 50060. Condolences may be shared on our website at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
