Robert "Bobby" Wendell Loper
Robert "Bobby" Wendell Loper of West Chester, PA passed away Monday, May 19, 2025 after a lengthy illness at the age of 92 years old. He was the eighth child born to the late Eva C. and John W. Loper, in Chadds ford, PA.
After graduating from West Chester Joint High School in 1951 he enlisted in the United States Airforce and served four years as an airplane mechanic during the Korean Conflict.
In March of 1956 he married Joanne Woodard from Avondale, PA. Out of this union four children were born. In 1963 they purchased their first home in West Chester to raise the children.
His profession throughout his life was as a welder at Gindy's Manufacturing, later known as Budd Company. After Budd closed down he then went to G. O. Carlson until retirement. Among Bobby's pleasures in life were deep sea fishing, hunting and playing pinnacle and poker with family and friends. He was also an avid bowler scoring the perfect score of 300 several times.
Bobby enjoyed watching tapes of Redd Fox and Red Skelton, his favorite comedians. He loved western movies, nature shows and listening to smooth jazz music, especially on Sunday mornings.
He was well known in West Chester as he would take daily walks around town and he would stop and chat with everyone.
Pop-Pop or Pops as he was affectionately called by his grand-children, Tysheem Loper, Jasmine Loper, W. Wendell Loper, Sapphire "Monie" Nixon (Kevin) all of Coatesville, PA; ReNay Loper of Columbia, SC; Philip Calis of Richmond, VA, Corey Loper of Newport News VA and Walter Loper II of Fort Worth, TX.
Robert was predeceased by his wife, Joanne Loper and his son Walter "Bummer" Loper I. Brothers, Willard Loper, Carrell Loper, Rodney Loper, John Loper III, and Lynwood Loper; his sisters Pearl "Peggy" Loper, Pauline Loper and Shirley Jefferson (George). Nephews, Steve Hazzard, Reecie Loper, Ricky Jefferson; nieces Toni Loper, Willa "Sue" Loper and Cherylee "Wanda" Loper and Darlene Montgomery (Daryl).
He is survived by his children, Victoria "Vicki" Loper of Thorndale, PA, Joseph "Wendell" Loper of Newport News, VA and Robin "Moochie" Loper of Coatesville, PA; a host of nieces, nephews, great grand children and friends.
