Robert Porter III Obituary

Robert J. Porter III (Bob), Age 88, died peacefully in his sleep at the Hospice of the Western Reserve in Westlake, OH on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

Beloved husband of Helen, dear father of Elizabeth Lee (Ron), Bob Porter IV (Lisa), Robyn Watson (Brad) and Becki Fox (James). Grandfather of 12 including Mikey, Andy, Katy, Nick, Maky, Alison, Bobby, Emily, Doug, Dylan, Abby and Jimmy. Great grandfather to 6 including Cain, Charlie, RJ, Louie, Millie and Cora.

Loving brother of the late Judith Lydon (Bill, deceased). Uncle and great uncle to many.

Bob enjoyed long rides through the Metroparks with Helen, never driving faster than 30 mph-much to the chagrin of his grandchildren! A proud member of the Avonworth High School (Pittsburgh) Class of 1955, he remained active in organizing class reunions and reconnecting with old friends.

A master storyteller, Bob delighted in regaling family and classmates with tales from his youth in Pittsburgh. Many of these cherished memories found their way into his unfinished book, A Walk Thru the Park. As an architect, Bob left his mark through both commercial projects and luxury residences-including a palatial estate for none other than the "King" of basketball. He took immense pride in having earned his professional registration despite never attending college, a testament to his talent, perseverance, and determination.

A Celebration of Life for friends and neighbors is planned for Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 1-4pm at the family's residence at 23319 Detroit Road, Westlake, Ohio.
