Robert Allen Radnick, passed away on July 16, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on June 28, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan to his loving parents Edward Radnick and Zena (nee: DeKowski). Robert's life was testament to his resilience, love of learning and dedication to his family and community. A man of remarkable intellect, kindness and humor, he departed this world in the same city where he was born, where his history of service and family will remain and flourish.
Robert's journey through life was marked by his intense work ethic and his desire to serve others. After completing his first degree, he served his community as a pharmacist. Soon after, a larger duty called him, and he served the country as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Navy. After an honorable discharge, he followed his belief in the importance of justice, returning to school to acquire his second advanced degree in the field of law, once again serving his community for years as a Wayne County prosecutor. Robert was first a Naval Reservist, then served in the Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAG Corps) of the Michigan National Guard. His legal career was distinguished by his integrity and idealism, traits that earned him the respect of his colleagues.
Robert's faith was a guiding force in his life, instilling in him the virtues of compassion and thoughtfulness. His kindness was felt by all. His intelligence shone brightly, often seen as the smartest person in the room. Yet despite this, he remained private and soft-spoken, never seeking the spotlight.
His interests were diverse and eccentric. An amateur radio operator for over sixty years, his call sign was K8 KJC. Robert also found joy in scale model building and metalworking, displaying both precision and creativity. His ideal gift was "heavy, metal, and green," a nod to his passions and his humor. Always a fan of classical music, Robert also appreciated folk and old country tunes. A particular favorite song of his was "El Paso" by Marty Robbins.
Robert's love of adventure and travel took him across the globe. Visiting Thailand, Guam, Poland, Germany, Japan, Hawaii and others, each destination sated his curiosity about the world, allowing him to engage with its local people and novel perspectives. His odd yet endearing sense of humor was a source of joy (and occasional eye rolling) for his family and friends. He always sought a laugh, often with an obscure reference that reflected his unique perspective on the world.
Married for fifty years to his beloved wife, Patricia (nee: Saville), Robert was a devoted husband and his love for "Patrish" was evident to all. His family was the cornerstone of his life and he is lovingly remembered by his children, David Radnick (Heidi) and Margaret Radnick (Anthony Bryan) and by his cherished grandchildren, Edith and Henry. He is survived by his younger siblings, Lawrence Radnick and Shirley Lambke.
Robert A. Radnick's life was a beautiful composition of kindness, intelligence and humor. He will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate to know him, and his memory will continue to inspire and guide all.
