Robert Thomas "Tommy" Sanders Sr., 83, of Pensacola passed away on May 12, 2025. He was born in Pensacola, Florida on April 21, 1942, to Joseph S. Sanders Sr. and Genevieve Nobles Sanders. One of the happiest days of his life was June 4, 1982, when he married Carmen Deloris Anderson Sanders. They were married for 42 years. Tommy retired as a Linemen from Gulf Power Company in 2003. He was a Ferry Pass Masonic Lodge Past Master, a Past Commander for the Disabled American Veterans Chapter in Pensacola, FL, and served as an Air Cargo Specialist in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, December 1965 through December 1971 when he was honorably discharged. When not engaged in various and numerous "honey-do's," Tommy had a passion for hunting, fishing, NASCAR, dad jokes, News of the Weird, and classic country, blue grass, and zydeco music.
Tommy was preceded in death by his mother, Genevieve Nobles Sanders; father, Joseph S. Sanders Sr.; brothers, Daniel "Danny" Burton Sanders, Royce Wayne Sanders, and Joseph S. Sanders Jr.; sister, Miriam G. Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen Deloris Anderson Sanders; son, Robert Thomas "Tim" Sanders Jr., daughter, April Carmen (Thomas "Tom" James) Harvey; sister, Joan Marie (Stephen) Pickering; and numerous nieces and nephews.
As a gesture of sympathy or remembrance for Tommy's passing, in lieu of plants or flowers, the family requests that a donation to Disabled American Veterans be in made his honor.
Pallbearers are Mark Gaston, Elbert E. "Peanut" Johnson, Brian Lloyd, Ken Middleton, Mike Woollen, and Ross Woollen
Honorary Pallbearers are Daniel "Danny" Brown and Thomas Harvey
