Robert Keith Sowers, 68, of Winchester. VA, died on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at a local nursing home in Woodstock, VA.
Keith was born on February 5, 1957 in Cumberland, MD, the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Frieda Louise Clem Sowers. He was a United States Army veteran, worked as a guard for a private contractor at the Shenandoah National Park near Luray, VA until he retired. A carpenter by trade he was a past member of Shawnee Fire Company and The American Legion in Strasburg VA. Keith enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseshoe pitching and was a NASCAR fan.
Surviving are three sisters: Sandra Taylor (CD) of Romney, WV, Barbara Smith of Billings, Montana & Kathy Leake of Capon Bridge, WV; a sister-in-law: Linda Sowers and a number of nieces & nephews. Also survived by his companion: Sharon Huff, who coordinated his care during his last months.
He is preceded in death along with his parents is a brother: Benjamin Lee Sowers, a niece Elizabeth A. Caton and a nephew Craig A Stokes.
A celebration of Keith's life will be held at the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge, WV on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 7:00 PM. Officiating will be Doug Tusing. Inurnment will be private.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.
