Robert B. "Woody" Woodard, 78, passed away peacefully at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Bob was born on September 6, 1946 in Escanaba, son to Benjamin and Naomi (Nye) Woodard. He was raised in Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School, class of 1964.
Following his time at Bay College, Bob served in the National Guard and was active in the Detroit Riots. He worked for Sawyer-Stoll Timber Company for a few years before starting his career at Mead Paper in the woodlands department. When his position was eliminated, he stayed busy doing various carpentry jobs. He later enjoyed working at Sage Run Golf Course during his retirement years.
On March 10, 2001, Woody married Judith (Dahl) Jenshak in Escanaba. He spoiled her with flowers on the 10th of every month to commemorate their wedding day.
Woody was a quiet man who didn't say much, but when he spoke it was worth listening to. He enjoyed peaceful moments enjoying their home on the river and welcoming friends and family to their screen house for poker games and visits. Woody loved listening to music, hunting, fishing, and was an avid Detroit Tigers and Lions fan.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Woodard of Escanaba; children, Jennifer (Greg) Sodermark of Madison, Melissa Jenshak (Kenny Tousignant) of Ford River, and Ronald Jenshak (Sandy Roberts) of Arnold; grandchildren, Sabrina, Alysse, and Robert Sodermark, Adam, Kaden, Kyan, and Kayda Jenshak, and Tate and Tia Tousignant; brothers and sisters in-law, Wally (Linda) Dahl, Sandy Henderson, Jeanne Hughes, Kay (Louis) Berube, Sherry Dahl, and Gary Pierce; many nieces and nephews; and special friend and neighbor, Carolyn Johnston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Woodard; sisters, Carole Pierce, Phyllis Woodard, and Mary Woodard; In-laws, Wallace and Bernita Dahl; and brothers in law, Jim Dahl and Roy Henderson.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
Thank you to the OSF Oncology Department and hospice for the love and care provided to Bob during his battle with cancer.
