Roberta Warden-Miller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 29, 2025.
Roberta was born in Lawrence, MA, on December 19, 1938, the first child of Herman and Dorothy Schmottlach. She lived her childhood in Derry, NH, where she graduated as valedictorian from Pinkerton Academy. She went on to graduate as college salutatorian in her college major, with a BS degree in Home Economics from the University of New Hampshire. After marrying Floyd M. Minks, she worked for two years at MIT in the food technology department while Floyd pursued his graduate degree in electrical engineering. Roberta and Floyd settled in Wisconsin after he served two years in the US Army. Floyd was then sent by his employer, Mercury Marine, to manage the electronics plant in St. Cloud, FL. The family now included a daughter, Janet, and a son, Jeffrey, and they settled in Kissimmee. They joined First Baptist Church of Kissimmee.

In 1970, Minks Electronics was established to produce parts for snowmobiles using patents developed by Floyd. Roberta worked hard to help establish the business, doing the accounting and managing the office. The company flourished into a multigenerational engineering business.

Roberta married Walter Warden in 1989. They were able to combine their love for travel with their desire to serve the Lord. They joined Campers on Mission and traveled every summer to a different state to help build and repair small Baptist churches. They also enjoyed cruising to various parts of the world until Walter died in 1999. For the next 17 years, Roberta spent her time enjoying her varied pastimes. She maintained her business of income tax preparation and began selling sewing items she made, joining the Osceola Craft Guild. The most important activities of her life were centered around her love for the Lord and her desire to serve Him. She loved to sing in the choir and support the mission activities of the church. She went on several overseas mission trips as far away as Indonesia, but most activities involved First Baptist Church of Kissimmee. She became the manager of the Dental Clinic which was begun by the church at the Osceola Christian Ministry Center to serve the poor and homeless with free dental care.

Roberta loved travel and visited all 50 states and many foreign countries. She earned a pilot's license and a SCUBA certification and had many adventures. She was faithful in attending church services on Sunday, and was generous in supporting the church, missionaries and other Christian organizations.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Miller, whom she married in 2016. Survivors also include daughter, Janet M. Minks of So. Sioux City, NE; son, Jeffrey K. Minks, daughter-in-love, Dawn Minks, two grandsons, Luke (Kristen) Minks and Gabriel Minks of St. Cloud; sister, Andrea Swift of Bethel Park, PA; brother, Carl (Elaine) Schmottlach of Manchester, NH; predeceased brother, William of Bay St. Louis, MS; stepdaughters, Sandra (Joe) Woodward of Crownsville, MD; and Susan (Bruce) Wells of Dublin, OH. and seven nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 07, 2025, at Osceola Memory Gardens in Kissimmee, FL. Burial will follow in the Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 06, 2025, at the funeral home.
