Roger Lee Caldwell, age 77, of Garrison, Kentucky, passed away on June 25, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky after a long illness.
Born on June 6, 1948, in Lee County, Ohio to the late Chester and Ethel Miller Caldwell. Roger was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He spent many years working on the railroad before retiring, a career that reflected his strong work ethic. Roger was a veteran of the U.S Navy in which he so proudly served. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years Kathy Williamson Caldwell, 4-sisters- Janice Elizondo, Faye Johnson, Barbara Cottrell, and Linda Johnson. 4-brothers- Dwight E. Adams, Dewey Robert Adams, Thomas Adams, and Chester Caldwell. Son-in-law- John 'Pork' Zornes. 4-brothers-in-law- Jon Johnson, Jerry Ruckel, Les Cottrell, and Terry Hendrickson. Step-brother- Bob Adams.
Roger is survived by his five children: sons Christopher (Deanna) Caldwell and Daniel White; and daughters Kyra Zornes, Shonda (David) Mosley, and Kailee "Nikki" Caldwell. 4-sisters- Donna Ruckel, Marge Everman, Kathy Wright, and Jeanne Gordon.
He also leaves behind 15- grandchildren and 15-great-grandchildren; all of whom brought him joy and pride throughout his life.
Roger will be remembered for his strength, his steady presence, and his unwavering love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held Monday June 30, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Gaydos Funeral Home 159 2nd street Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179 with Brother Patrick Tumlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Waring cemetery in Garrison, Kentucky.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. Post 5438 Monte Lewis Stamm Vanceburg, Kentucky.
Visitation for Roger Caldwell will be Sunday June 29, 2025 from 6-8 pm and from 9:00 am until time of services Monday at the Gaydos Funeral Home.
Pallbearers for Roger Lee Caldwell will be Timothy Caldwell, Christopher Caldwell, Jay Zornes, Matt Zornes, Devan Walters, Kyle Caldwell, Cameron Caldwell, and David Mosley.
Lead Honorary pallbearers will be Blaine Cooley and Bryson Jenkins.
