Roger Leslie Laine, 81, of Columbus, passed from this life at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Roger was born May 2, 1944, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Thurman M. and Francis A.E. Black Lane. On December 8, 1964, he married Lacy Lee Weber.
Mr. Laine worked at Enkei of America for several years before retiring. In his younger years, Roger proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and Army National Guard. He is honorably discharged from service in 1970. Gardening, fishing and raising chickens were some ways that Roger enjoyed his spare time. Most importantly, he looked forward to quality time spent with his family.
Survivors include his sons, Thurman (Tammy) Laine of Columbus, Keith (Christine) Laine, Ernest (Becky) Laine, Richard (Ashley) Laine, all of North Vernon; eleven grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Lane, also of North Vernon; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his, parents; wife, Lacy; brothers, William Lane, Dale Lane; sisters, Ida and Wanda.
The funeral service for Roger will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2025 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Rev. Larry Calhoun officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Laine will be laid to rest next to his wife, Lacy, at Shiloh Separate Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
