Roger Wayne Stone, 84, of Bucklin, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at Boone Hospital. He was born on March 17, 1941, in Columbia, Missouri, to Wilfred and Ruth Stone. Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a hardworking farmer and spent over twenty years employed at Excelsior Manufacturing Company. He was also deeply involved in his community-serving as a deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, dancing with the Tangle Foot Square Dancers, and serving on the Bucklin R-II School Board of Education. Roger found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved gardening, fishing, watching sports-especially wrestling-and was known for his sharp wit and playful teasing. He was a master of word searches and jigsaw puzzles, and his favorite pastime was cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Ruth Stone; his in-laws, Roscoe and Dolores Baugher; five siblings; and his grandson, JR. Roger is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Arleta, whom he married on April 21, 1963. He is also survived by his four children and their spouses: Randy and Bobby, Dennis and Mary, Kevin and Louann, and Melanie and Steven. He leaves behind his sister, Sharon Sheets; grandchildren AJ, Dustin, Tiffany, Seth, McKenna, and Lucas; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be Wednesday, July 9, at 11 am at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pleasant Grove Church or the cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Delaney Funeral Home in Bucklin, MO
