MORTON – Ronald W. Brubaker, 87, of Morton, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Carle Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
He was born on February 27, 1938, in Peoria, Illinois, to Peter and Ruby (McCabe) Brubaker. Ronald married Joann Whisler on June 21, 1959, Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, Joann Brubaker of Morton; children, Carrie (Stephen) Schmidgall of Mackinaw, Sheri (Mark) Mocilan of Destin, Florida and Perri (Corey) Wiegand of Deer Creek; grandchildren, Bethany (Eric) Scroggs, Rachel (Todd) Chaffer, Jordan (Darci) Schmidgall, Jesse (Jordon) Bowen, John (Melissa) Henderson, Sydney (Benny) Frietsch, Calvin Wiegand and Lydia Wiegand; and 20 great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Ronald proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier Intrepid, an experience that remained a point of honor and pride throughout his life.
He retired from Caterpillar after 37 years of service.
One of Ron's greatest joys in life was being surrounded by his beloved family. He treasured every moment spent with his children, his eight grandchildren, and his twenty great-grandchildren.
Ron leaves behind a legacy of faith-he boldly and lovingly shared his hope in Jesus Christ with his entire family, planting seeds of truth that will continue to bear fruit for generations.
Ronald was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2025, with Pastor Drew Williquette officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Burial of cremated remains will be at Mackinaw Township Cemetery in Mackinaw, Illinois at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church in Groveland.
