Ronald Eugene Jones, 78, lost his long battle with heart and kidney disease, passing at home surrounded by his family. He had requested they all come the day before to celebrate his life on earth and the beginning of his new one with God. "Don't be sad for Dad," he had said repeatedly.

Ronnie was born on July 20, 1947 to the late Eugene and Ruth (Briggs) Jones. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Rita and husband, Charlie; nephew, Chucky; niece Shayna; brothers-in-law, Dave Harenza and Ron Shepherd; sister-in-law, Barbara Goodson.

He was an avid Cleveland Sports Fan. He followed the Indians since the days of Rocky Colavito and Minnie Minoso. He also lived and breathed the Browns and Cavaliers. His passions were passed on to many of us in the family. However, well blended with Pittsburgh and Cincinnati fans. This led to many happy get togethers.

Ronnie went to Belmont Grade School and graduated from Union Local High School in 1965. He played all sports but his first love was basketball.

Then he went to trade school in Youngstown and worked a few years in Richmon, Indiana as a lathe operator.

In 1968, he met his love and never went back. He married Peggy (Goodson) Jones on July 26,1969. This would have been their 56th anniversary. Along came his beautiful daughter, Rhonda on December 15, 1970.

Ronnie worked for Jonathan Logan for 25 years as a cutter until they closed. The last 25 years he worked as a mental health tech at Belmont Community Hospital. He touched so many lives there with people often approaching him in stores to thank him.

He and his wife also owned and operated a standard bred racing stable at the Meadows in Washington, Pennsylvania for many years.

Besides his loving wife, Peggy, he leaves behind daughter, Rhonda (Tony) Carkhuff; grandsons, Anthony (Samantha) Carkhuff, Andrew Carkhuff, Stephen (Kaitlyn) Carkhuff; granddaughters, Kayley (Taylor) Carkhuff, and Emily (Brittany) Carkhuff; his beloved great-grandchildren, Talitha and Samara Carkhuff, Raelynn, Delilah and Grace Carkhuff, to whom he was Pappy Butters, Ivory and Chandler Hall; sisters, Gloria (Ron) Shepherd and Ruth Ann (Gerald) Yeater; special family Cary & Destiny, Lewis and Owen Schmitt.

Thank you to all who cared for him throughout his illness.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 1pm to 5pm at the Wilson Funeral Home, Bethesda Chapel, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio 43719.
