Ronald Nelson Taylor, 79, passed away surrounded by family on July 7, 2025, at Saint Joesph Hospital in Lexington, KY due to complications of cancer treatment.
Ronald was born on May 5, 1946, to the late William Onis and Lillie Mae Cornish Taylor.
Ronald retired after 36 years as a Field Maintenance Operator for the Fayette County Parks and Recreation in Lexington, KY, as well as the Anderson County Road Department. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his partner of 35 years, Linda Ritchey, and his three children: Melissa Taylor (Scott) of Bloomfield, Ky, Stacey Noble (Mike) of
Lawrenceburg, Ky, Brad Taylor of Lexington, Ky, and their mother, Nancy Bailey of Lawrenceburg; his grandchildren Patrick Noble (Jessica), Christopher Taylor and Ethan Taylor; his great grandchildren Emylou Harper Taylor and Rylee Paige Noble. He is survived also by his partner's family, including Sharon Robinson (Brine) of
Lawrenceburg, Ky, Rita Sexton of Harrodsburg, Ky; her grandchildren Christina Wilder (Matthew), Elizabeth Robinson, Austin Sexton, Asia Sexton and Marcos Contreas (Loren); her great grandchildren Kalabe Sexton, Jaxton Contreas and Wyatt Hammond. In addition, he leaves behind a double-first cousin, Tim Bailey (Sue) and their children Diya and Shani of Lexington, Ky.
Ronald grew up on a tobacco farm in rural Anderson County, KY and attended Rutherford Elementary School and graduated from Western High School in 1964. He attended Eastern Kentucky University, where he participated in ROTC and later joined the Navy Reserves, serving honorably as a Petty Officer. Ronald had a deep love of old-time country music and learned to play the guitar early on in his life. He was a member of the "C.W. Grider and the Mercer County Boys" band in the late 60's, often performing live on WHBN Radio Station in Harrodsburg, KY. Ronald was a huge fan of baseball and basketball and enjoyed the Cincinnati Reds and Kentucky Wildcats.
Ronald gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Ballard Baptist Church at the age of 13 and later became a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Sinai. He served as a music director, Sunday School teacher & superintendent, as well as Vacation Bible School teacher.
Ronald loved his family deeply and valued each and every moment spent together. He displayed his faith and love of Christ daily and could recite scripture at any given moment. He could spend hours talking and chatting with anyone, and his favorite pastime was telling stories and family history.
Ronald chose as pallbearers Scott Taylor, Mike Noble, Patrick Noble, Christopher Taylor, Ethan Taylor and Marcos Contreas. He also chose as honorary pallbearers Tim Bailey, Brine Robinson and Austin Sexton.
His funeral will be held Monday, July 14, 2025, at Noon & Son Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, with the funeral service starting at 1:00pm. His interment will follow immediately, with a burial service at Lawrenceburg Cemetery on South Main Street.
