Ronald Valavor departed this life on July 4, 2025 at the age of 73 at Kindred Hospital Rahway after a long illness.
Born on September 12, 1951 in Jersey City, NJ to the late George and Ethel ( nee Konek) Valavor, Ronnie's life led him to Bayonne and then to Old Bridge, where he settled and called home.
Ronnie proudly served his country in the Air Force from October 1970 to June 1973 in Vietnam. He had a deep passion for his country and never silenced himself when it came time to defend it. He was also passionate about hunting and fishing, spending many weekends in the woods with his hunting buddies or annual summer vacations with Laura at Chincoteague, sunbathing and fishing. Let's not forget his passion for football and his loyalty to the Raiders. Black and silver were his favorite colors.
His best times though were being at home, relaxing with family and friends or just enjoying his own backyard with cocktails with friends and many laughs. If you looked over the fence in the summertime, you'd most likely catch him in the pool floating around in his black Raiders tube or entertaining the kids with his famous off the diving board somersaults. Forever a kid at heart, his sense of humor and unbroken spirit was a big part of who he was.
Ronnie was always someone you could count on for help, especially with his knowledge of plumbing, heating, or general maintenance and even mechanically. If he didn't have a solution to the problem before him, he'd sleep on it and get back to you. He seemed to know and figure out everything. Ronnie was a fighter and refused to give up, no matter the challenge.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Laura (nee Stives); stepson, Brian Mondadori and his wife, Rosa; cherished grandchildren, Giovanni and Bianca; mother-in-law Genevieve Stives; six brothers-in-law Michael Stives and his wife Sandy, Stanley Stives and his wife Judy, Mark Stives and his wife Sharon, Anthony Stives and his wife Ruth, Chris Stives and his wife, Kathleen, Jeffrey Stives; adored cousin Judy Clark; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by long time dearest friends Joe Delesky and his wife Lynn, John Bauman, all his wonderful friends on the street he called home, and of course his faithful furry four legged son Hunter the Shiba. Ronnie was predeceased by his father George Valavor in 1974, sister Gloria Jean Folderauer in 1986, and mother Ethel Valavor in 2008.
Ronnie was more than just a skilled worker, husband, father, and friend. His awesome sense of humor and smiley eyes touched the lives of so many who knew him. His legacy will remain in their hearts and memories forever. Ronnie will be truly and deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Old Bridge Funeral Home, 2350 Route 516, Old Bridge, NJ 08857.
