Ronnie Lee "Dodo" Lawson, 65, of Elkton, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024, at his home. Ronnie was born July 25, 1958 in Harrisonburg and was the son of the late Otis W. and Janice Lynn Shifflett Lawson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Lawson; sisters, Sharon Good and Dianne Helmick.
Ronnie grew up in Elkton and attended Elkton High School. He was an active member of the Elkton Volunteer Fire Company and Emergency Squad for over 25 years. He was a member of the Upper Room Church, and a lifetime member of the American Coon Hunters Association. He loved hunting and dipping for suckers, and helped friends and neighbors butcher hogs for many years. He was a Mason, working in construction for many years and most recently worked for Doodles Repair in McGaheysville. Ronnie never met a stranger, and would always be there to help family or friends in need.
Ronnie is survived by daughters, Charity Wood and husband, Travis, LaDonna Doty and husband, Jason, Candice Lawson; a companion of 32 years, Kathy Shifflett; brothers, Jeremy Lawson and wife, Melissa, Ricky Lawson and wife, Malynn, Michael Lawson and wife, Tammy; a sister, Aileen Moubray and husband, Dave; grandchildren, Kristina Wood, Colby Price and wife, McKenzie, Rylee Price, Honor Doty, Adira Doty; best friend, Doodle Harman; numerous nieces and nephews, and a great-grandchild on the way.
The family will receive friends Friday evening June 14, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Upper Room Church, in Elkton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday June 15, 2024, at the Upper Room Church in Elkton with Pastor Barbara Hensley and Pastor Sam Sponaugle officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Peters Cemetery near Elkton.
Gifts may be made to the Lawson family for unexpected funeral expenses.
