A Mass of Christian Burial for Rose Ann will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Deweese, Nebraska. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m., prior to the Mass. Father Adam Sparling will preside over the services.
A Graveside Service will be in the Assumption Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
There will be no public visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are directed to the family for future designation.
Rose Ann Skalka was born to Joseph & Rosa (Chvatal) Dozbaba in Stratton, Nebraska on November 4, 1928, and was one of eight children in her family. She died on May 8, 2025 at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 96 years, 6 months, and 4 days.
She married Edward Skalka on April 26, 1949. Rose Ann and Edward were blessed with two children, John and Judy. The family resided on the family farm outside of Deweese. Rose Ann spent many wonderful years on that farm, during which her love of farming grew and was contagious for her family and eventually her great-grandchildren.
She was a kind woman who always led with love and never wavered in her faith. She loved sports and enjoyed time with her many friends and family. Anyone in her company was sure to be met with love and shared laughter.
Rosa Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; son, John; and 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Prochaska and husband, Russ; brother, Richard Dozbaba and wife, Delphine; grandchildren, Bryan Skalka and wife, Amanda, Amy Yost and husband, Josh, Kathy Stover and husband, Kyle, Ashley Skalka, Preston Skalka and wife, Jenny, Michael Voorhees and Kayla Hansen, Jennifer Voorhees, Kevin Prochaska and wife, Sara, Tami Heinrichs and husband, Greg; and many great grandchildren.
