Mrs. Roslee Bass (88), "Granny Rose", passed away October 12, 2024 at home surrounded by her family in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born on July 24, 1936 in Bartley, West Virginia to Joseph Canellas and Arizonia Sturgill. She was predeceased in death by the love of her life, John "Red" Bass Jr. for 42 wonderful years. She is survived by her son John E. Bass and loving daughter-in-law, Tina of Jacksonville, Florida. Two granddaughters, one of Carrollton, Virginia, Jara David and her husband Chris; one of Jacksonville, Florida, Priscilla Pickett and her husband James. Two great granddaughters, Kaleigh and Brianna David, one great grandson, Austin Pickett and one soon to be great-great granddaughter, Layla Lynne. She was a loving Mom and Granny. Her family was her world and she enjoyed every moment she had with them. She was an avid flower gardener and the only one in the family with a green thumb. She loved shopping which was shown by her amazing style. When she wasnt digging in the dirt you could find her watching her favorite baseball player at the field. She never met a stranger, loved all children and was Granny to many. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the funeral home between the hours of 6-8PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 11AM in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South Jacksonville, FL 32216 with Dr. Terry N. Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org
