Rea was born in New Tazewell, TN, to C.G. and Edith Presley. She was the youngest among her siblings: Egypt Puckett, Charles Presley, Lorraine McCarty Chesnut.

For much of her childhood the family moved from state to state following their father and his construction jobs. They finally settled near relatives in East Point, GA.

Rea married Jack Pressley on August 11, 1952. They met during a two-week revival at Jack's home church, Antioch Christian Church in Canton, GA. She was a guest pianist and he was a sailor on shore leave. They ran off and eloped to Jonesboro, GA, and were married for 53 years until Jack died (Feb. 5, 2006).

Rea and Jack loved the family the Lord blessed them with. Sons Johnny, Tony, Freddie. Daughters-in-law Jeanette, Dayna. Grandchildren Benjamin, Patrick, Jacquie, Jenna. Great Grandchildren Colin, Julianna, Jack, Josh.

Panama City, FL, was home for many years. They later retired further south to Venice, FL. Eventually they made their way to their final home at the Christian City retirement center in Union City, GA, where she lived for 31 years.

While Jack worked for Southern Bell Telephone, Rea managed their family businesses in Panama City. First the Biltmore Beach Motel, then later the Round the Clock Laundry and Dry Cleaning.

Wherever they lived, Rea and Jack were always active members of the Christian Church. Rea taught Sunday School classes, led the youth group, and hosted church groups in their home. She read the Bible and church literature daily, and always had questions to ask.

Rea's favorite passion was church music. She started as a teenager playing piano for church services, and eventually learned the organ. She led several church choirs, both adult and children. She was also a vocalist, singing alto in various ensembles. She taught her sons to sing and perform for church gatherings as "The Pressley Boys." And her pride and joy in her latter years was the Praise Team she directed at Lester Road Christian Church.

We will miss her music, good humor, endless stories, and pleasant company. Perhaps somewhere in glory she is still directing songs and singing praise to the Lord.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Lester Road Christian Church in Fairburn, Georgia with Dr. Barry McCarty and Dr. Johnny Pressley officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
