Roy Edward Pearce, age 91, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 26, 2024. Roy was born February 3, 1933, in Flint, MI to Arthur and Mabel Pearce. He graduated from Beecher High School in 1951 and enlisted in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and began his 32-year railroad career with CSX out of Grand Rapids, retiring in August of 1988.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Mary Elizabeth Pearce. He is also survived by his daughters Sherry (John) Calkins and Janet (David) Pearce and grandchildren, Tracy (Dan) Swift, Hilary (Ben) Mossberg, Pearce Pomerleau, and Genevieve Pomerleau as well as 4 great-grandchildren. Roy was preceded in death by his dear daughter, Karen Hartman, and his five siblings.
After retiring, Roy and Mary moved to Frankfort. Here they enjoyed 35 years at their treasured home. He had many friends, enjoyed working in his yard, playing golf, building stone birdhouses, and watching his grandchildren grow up. Roy loved to tell stories and was quick to help anyone who needed a hand. He never met a stranger.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 2:00 pm at First Congregational Church of Frankfort, 431 Forest Avenue, Frankfort, with Pastor Dinah Haag officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to The Friends of the Benzie Shores District Library, PO Box 384, Frankfort, MI 49635. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.jowettfamilyfuneralhome.com in their guest book online. A special thank you to the staff at The Homesteader for all the love, care, and attention they gave Roy during his final years.
