Memorial services for Ruben Albarez, age 78 of Denver City, Texas, will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Veronica's Ball Room in Denver City with Pastor David Hollon officiating. Burial will follow at Denver City Memorial Park. All services are under the direction of Boyer Memorial Chapel of Denver City, in association with Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole, Texas. His family has lovingly provided the following obituary.

Ruben Rogers Albarez was a man whose presence brought warmth and laughter to those he encountered. His memory will be cherished forever, and his absence leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of many. Born on March 21, 1947, in Lamesa, Texas, to Aurora and Catarino Albarez, Ruben served his country as a Vietnam War veteran, a role he initially embraced with a deep sense of duty. Over time, he grew immensely proud of his service, often wearing his Vietnam memorabilia, whether on a hat or jacket, as a visible symbol of that pride.

Ruben was a father to five children: Tessa Albarez Black of Denver City; Christine and Brent Aulds of Lubbock; Ritchie Albarez of Seminole; Elaina and Jarod Christy of Spring; and Benny and Jade Albarez of Denver City. Additionally, Ruben and his late wife, Pam, lovingly considered Charlie Brown of Lubbock as a son. He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 14, with one more on the way. Ruben leaves behind a growing family that will carry on his name, his stories, and his unmistakable spirit.

Ruben was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pamla Albarez; his mother, Aurora Stamford; his father, Catarino Albarez; his brother, Rudy Albarez; and his sisters, Losa Amador and Alvera Villa.

Known for his storytelling, sharp sense of humor, and unwavering love for lottery tickets, Ruben also had a fondness for harmless pranks, especially his infamous fart spray, which he deployed with perfect timing and mischievous delight. He was incredibly generous, often giving dollars to every kid he saw and paying for people's meals, spreading kindness in his own unique way.

Ruben leaves behind a legacy of laughter and resilience, along with a stubborn streak that, while unshakable, was always part of his charm. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory forever cherished. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the Hope Lodge of Lubbock and the in honor of Ruben and his late wife Pam's memory.
