Stephen Mueller Obituary

From an early age Steve knew what he wanted. An accomplished athlete Steve graduated from Forest View high school in 1966. Steve gave university a shot at Wayne State but that inner voice kept pushing him to be a carpenter. Two weeks into his sophomore year he made a phone call to his father, "I don't think that college is for me." and the die was cast.

Steve honed his skills as an apprentice, a meticulous nature allowing him to attain journeyman status. Steve boldly ventured into entrepreneurship, balancing on the inflection point as inflation peaked in the 70's. He contemplated giving up, "Grit your teeth and get through it. Mueller's are hard.". This decision marked the beginning of a series of triumphs that would define an exceptional life. He was a businessman, an athlete, a husband, a father, a volunteer generous with his time. Steve was an inspiration to those around him.

Steve budgeted his time between Arizona, New York and Florida always ready to embark on a new adventure or tackle a new project.

Though he was taken from us too soon, know that Steve was living life to the fullest and enjoying each day here on Earth. The kinship with so many, grown from chance meetings over the years, was treasured by Steve.

Stephen (Steve) Mueller 77, passed away on January 16th, 2025 surrounded by family and friends. He was born on September 18th, 1947 to Joseph and Elizabeth Mueller, in Chicago Illinois.

Steve, is survived by his loving wife Gina, his sister Mary Lou, brother Tom, and his children Mark, Sara and Eric. Steve also leaves behind nieces, nephews and grand-children that looked to him as a mentor and role model. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph Mueller, Sr. (2002), Elizabeth Mueller (2019), his brother Joseph Mueller, Jr. (1997) and his grandson Callen Andrew Mueller (2013).

A celebration of Steve's life will take place Saturday, Sept. 20th, 2025 from 3:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. at the Rotary Building located at 431 North Walkup Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
