Ruby Olson Obituary

Ruby Sylvia Olson, age 92, of Winger, MN, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston, MN.
Ruby was born on August 26, 1932 to Nick and Tilda Overbo in St. James, MN. At the age of two, she moved with her family to Winger, MN. She attended school in Bejou and Mahnomen, graduating in 1950. Ruby met Floyd Olson when he was visiting his uncle on the neighboring farm. They were married on October 18, 1952 in Santa Ana, CA. After moving back to Minnesota, they lived on a farm near Gary for one and a half years. In 1955 they moved to a farm across the road from Ruby's childhood home. The couple enjoyed 72 years of marriage.
Ruby was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1967 and enjoyed sharing her faith with others. Other interests included dancing, old-time music, playing cards, mowing the lawn, and tending to her roses.
Ruby is survived by her loving family, including her husband, Floyd; three children: Linda (Miles) Matta, Roger Olson, and Sharon (Scott) Pahlen; and two grandsons, Matthew Matta and Cody Pahlen.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jane.
Ruby's family would like to thank Essentia Health Living Center in Fosston for the excellent care given to her. They also extend their gratitude to friends and family for their comfort and support.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm, with a visitation starting one hour prior, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 204 Sand Lake Ave NW, in Bagley, MN. Please join them for lunch and fellowship following the memorial service at the Bagley American Legion.
